Hello! My name is Iffah. Im a 22 year old university student who halls from an urban poor family. My father’s sudden illness pushed my family into dire situation and placed a big responsibility on my shoulders to take care of my family.
When i was offered to join Unseen Tours Kuala Lumpur, i was sceptical and scared. Although I was determined not to allow urban poorness rob me of an education and wished to end the poverty cycle in my family, I was also afraid to leave the comfort zone. But I took the chance and with the training Yellow House provided, I felt more confident and for the first time in my life, I felt I was on the right path.
My first training was at the homeless transit centre where I witnessed first hand how the social innovation aspect of this project helped the homeless people and urban poor to improve their standards and way of life. I feel the capacity building trainings we received has tremendously increased my confidence and self esteem. I am currently pursuing my studies in linguistics and my financial stability has improved. I enjoy showing people my city so I hope you will book a tour with us!
I speak fluent Bahasa Malaysia, English, German, basic Turkish and basic Portuguese.
